  1. Reasons we use tgethr

“I’m starting a business and looking for great collab tools. What are a few things that would make yours stand out?” Joseph Rooks (@JosephRooks) asks on Twitter

Joseph, thanks for the question on twitter.  Congrats on starting a business.  It’s always extremely exciting and has it’s share of daunting moments.  :)  But it can be very rewarding and a ton of fun.

Tgethr is super super simple.  What makes us standout is how handy such a basic simple group email list can be.

Also since it really just helps your team use email a little better, all your notes will be in email, so if you ever decide to quit, you really don’t have to worry about getting locked into us, and needing to export your data.

Obviously there’s lots of choices of collaboration tools out there.  But for whatever reasons, email and instant messaging remains the standard thing we use ourselves to keep all of us on the same page.  We’ve been in business for 4 years, and tgethr’s been the handiest tool in our toolset for the email part.

37signal’s Campfire, is also an extremely useful tool we use for instant messaging.

So start simple and small with tgethr.  As you grow, maybe tgethr will still feel handy, but if not it will be easy for you to graduate to a much more feature rich tool like Basecamp.

Also, if you develop software, we’re software developers and designers over here, so we also really like the code highlighting available and the nice way tgethr renders screenshots in our emails.  But stay tuned too, we’ve got some things in the works for tgethr to work with the other apps we use frequently (bug tracking for example), to make them even more email friendly.

Email is still the most prominent form of communication we have. Do you really need that fancy collaboration tool or do you just need to get tgethr?
